Brand colours & fonts

Set your brand palette and typefaces once. They define how your documents look and read, and Waxe applies them across every design direction you choose.

Two levers that define your look

Colour and type carry most of a brand's character. Your palette sets the mood and the emphasis; your typefaces set the voice and the rhythm of the reading. Get these two right and your documents feel like yours before anyone reads a word.

Both live in your branding profile and apply across the workspace. See Set up your branding profile.

Your brand colours

Your palette guides accents, headings, emphasis and the supporting tones across the page. Waxe uses it with restraint, so your colour shows up where it counts rather than flooding the document.

  1. Add your core colours

Start with your primary brand colour and any key accents.

  2. Mind contrast and legibility

Choose colours that keep text comfortable to read against their backgrounds.

  3. Save and generate

Your palette carries through every new document in the direction you pick.

Your typefaces

Type sets the tone: a tailored serif reads differently from a clean sans. Choose the typefaces your documents should read in, and Waxe sets headings and body text accordingly.

  • Pick a typeface for headings and one for body text, or a single family that does both.
  • Favour fonts that stay legible at document sizes, not just on screen.
  • Keep the pairing simple — two well-chosen faces beat five competing ones.

If your brand uses a licensed or bespoke typeface, you can bring it in. See Custom fonts.

How colour and type combine with a direction

The design direction sets the mood; your colour and type fill it in. The same palette and fonts will read as calm in Clean & Minimalist and as dramatic in Immersive & High-End, because the direction shapes how they're used.

You supply the brand; Waxe and the direction decide how it's expressed.

Fine-tuning a single document

Profile settings cover every document, but you can always adjust one. In the editor, change colours or text directly, or ask Waxe to make the change and preview it before you accept.

Frequently asked questions

Will Waxe use my brand colour everywhere?

No. Waxe applies your palette with restraint — accents, headings and emphasis — so documents stay readable. The colour shows up where it strengthens the page rather than flooding it.

Can I use more than two fonts?

You can, but a tighter pairing usually reads better. A heading face and a body face — or one versatile family — gives a cleaner, more professional result.

What if my colours fail contrast against a dark direction?

Waxe aims to keep text legible, but very low-contrast palettes can struggle on dark backgrounds. Adjust the document in the editor, or supply a higher-contrast accent.

Do colour and font changes apply to old documents?

Updating your profile affects future documents. Existing ones keep the colours and fonts they were generated with. See Set up your branding profile.

Can I override the palette for just one document?

Yes. Edit it in the paged editor or ask Waxe to change it for that document, while your profile stays the default for everything else.
