What the branding profile is

The branding profile is where you tell Waxe what your brand looks like. It gathers the few things that make a document unmistakably yours — your palette, your typefaces and your logo — in one place.

Because branding lives at the workspace level, it applies across every project and every document. You don't re-enter it each time you generate. See Workspaces, projects & documents.

What goes into it

  • Logo — your mark, ideally in light and dark variants so it reads on any background.
  • Colours — the palette that drives accents, headings and emphasis.
  • Fonts — the typefaces that shape how your documents read.
  • Identity basics — your business name and the details that appear on documents.

You don't need every field perfect on day one. Waxe will fill sensible gaps, and you can refine the profile whenever your brand evolves.

Setting it up

  1. Open your workspace branding settings

Branding is part of your workspace, so it's shared across projects.

  2. Add your logo

Upload your mark, with light and dark versions where you have them. See Logos (light & dark).

  3. Set your colours

Add your brand palette so accents and emphasis match. See Brand colours & fonts.

  4. Choose your typefaces

Pick the fonts your documents should read in, or bring your own. See Custom fonts.

  5. Save and generate

Your next document is composed wearing the brand you've just set.

How Waxe uses your brand

Your profile is the raw material, not a fixed stencil. Waxe interprets it for each document — deciding where the logo sits, how the palette carries through headings and accents, and how your type sets the tone — within the design direction you chose.

  • The right logo variant appears for each background.
  • Your colours guide emphasis without overwhelming the page.
  • Your typefaces set a consistent voice across documents.

Keeping it current

When your brand changes — a new logo, a refreshed palette — update the profile and future documents pick it up. Existing documents keep the brand they were generated with, so nothing already sent is altered behind your back.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to fill in everything before I can generate?

No. You can generate with a partial profile and Waxe fills sensible gaps. Adding your logo, colours and fonts simply makes every document more on-brand.

Does the profile apply to documents I've already created?

Updating the profile affects future documents. Existing documents keep the brand they were generated with, so nothing already finished changes unexpectedly.

Can different projects use different branding?

Branding is set at the workspace level and shared across projects, which keeps your documents consistent. If you operate distinct brands, contact us at email support to talk through the best setup.

Who can edit the branding profile?

That depends on a team member's role and permissions in the workspace. See Permissions.

I changed my brand — will old sent documents update?

No. Documents you've already sent are fixed records and aren't rewritten when you update the profile.
