No templates: the 5 design directions

waxTable has no templates. You choose one of five design directions — a mood — and Waxe composes an original document in that spirit, around your brand and your content.

Why there are no templates

A template is a finished layout waiting for someone else's content. It forces your work into a shape it was never designed for, and it makes every document that uses it look the same.

waxTable takes a different route. You tell Waxe the mood you want, and Waxe composes the document from scratch — choosing structure, rhythm and finish to suit the document type and your content, wearing your brand throughout.

You choose the spirit of the document. Waxe does the design.

The five design directions

Each direction is a mood. Pick the one that fits the document and the impression you want to leave.

How to choose a direction

  1. Start from the reader

Who receives this, and what should it feel like in their hands — reassuring, impressive, energising?

  2. Match the document type

A contract benefits from clarity; a pitch deck can carry more drama. Let the job lead.

  3. Pick the mood, not a layout

Choose the direction that fits the impression. Waxe handles the actual page design.

  4. Generate and judge in context

Review the finished, paginated document and decide if the mood lands. Switching direction means a fresh composition, not a reshuffle.

Your brand always leads

A direction sets the mood; your brand sets the look. Whichever you choose, Waxe builds around your colours, type and logo so the result reads as unmistakably yours.

  • Your palette drives the colour choices throughout.
  • Your typefaces shape how the document reads.
  • Your logo appears where it belongs, in the right variant for the background.

Set this up once in your branding profile and it applies to every document. See Set up your branding profile.

Adjusting after generation

The design isn't locked. Once Waxe delivers the draft, you review it in a real, paginated editor and change anything you like — by typing, or by telling Waxe what to adjust.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see all five directions side by side before choosing?

Choose the direction that matches the mood you want and generate. Because each document is composed fresh, the truest comparison is the finished, paginated draft in context rather than a thumbnail.

What happens if I switch direction later?

Switching direction means Waxe composes the document again in the new spirit — it's a fresh design, not a rearrangement of the old one. Your branding and content carry over.

Can I mix two directions?

You choose one direction per document so the mood stays coherent. You can then refine specific details in the editor or by asking Waxe for changes.

Will a proposal and an invoice in the same direction look identical?

No. The direction sets a shared mood, but each document type carries its own structure and judgement, so the two will look related rather than identical.

Is one direction better for India or the Middle East?

There's no regional rule — pick the mood that fits your reader and your brand. All five work with your own colours, type and logo.
