Working with Waxe

When Waxe gets it wrong

Even a capable colleague misses sometimes. Here's how to recover a draft that went off — correct, undo or regenerate — and how to brief Waxe so the same thing doesn't happen again.

First, decide how far off it is

Before you act, judge the size of the problem. A draft that is right except for one detail needs a different fix from a draft that aimed at the wrong job entirely. Matching the fix to the miss saves you the most time.

Pick the smallest fix that solves the problem.

Correct just one thing

Most misses are local — a wrong price, an off date, a clumsy sentence. You do not need to start over. Fix the single thing and keep everything else you already approved.

  • Tell Waxe the exact change and preview its proposal before accepting.
  • Or edit the text yourself — what you edit is what you send.
  • Confirm any figure that feeds a total after you change it.

Undo an edit that made it worse

Because Waxe proposes changes you accept or reject, a bad suggestion never reaches your document unless you approve it — so rejecting is the cleanest undo. If a change you accepted turns out wrong, you can roll it back and try a different instruction.

Regenerate when the whole draft is off

If the draft aimed at the wrong thing — wrong document type, wrong scope, wrong design direction — patching it is slower than starting again. Regenerate, but improve the brief first so the new draft lands closer.

  1. Spot what was missing

Identify the context Waxe lacked — usually scope, pricing inputs or the design direction.

  2. Tighten the brief

Add those facts, and paste in the source if you have one.

  3. Regenerate

Let Waxe draft again from the stronger brief.

  4. Refine

Polish the remaining details with surgical edits.

For what makes a brief land, see Brief Waxe for a great draft.

Stop it recurring

Most repeat misses trace back to missing context. A small amount of setup teaches Waxe your defaults so it stops guessing.

  • Give Waxe the real source rather than describing it from memory — see Citations & sources.
  • Set up your branding profile so the design lands first time — see Set up your branding profile.
  • State pricing inputs and what is out of scope up front.
  • Name the design direction you want when you generate.

Frequently asked questions

Waxe got one number wrong — do I have to regenerate?

No. Make a surgical edit to change just that figure. Regenerating is only worth it when the whole draft aimed at the wrong job. See Make surgical edits.

How do I undo a change Waxe made?

If it is a proposal you have not accepted, simply reject it. If you already accepted it, roll the change back and try a clearer instruction.

The whole draft missed the brief. What now?

Tighten the brief — add the scope, pricing inputs and design direction Waxe lacked, paste in the source, then regenerate. The new draft should land much closer.

Why does Waxe keep making the same mistake?

Usually because it is missing context. Provide the real source, set your branding profile and state your defaults up front so Waxe stops guessing.

What if the document looks broken rather than just wrong?

That is a rendering issue, not a drafting one. See A document looks wrong.
